Exploring Possibility
Curiosity is at the heart of my work. It is an impulse to discover how materials can transcend their original identity. I work primarily with synthetic fabrics, using matchsticks and a gas lamp to draw, paint, and sculpt with fire. Each gesture becomes a dialogue between control and surrender, transforming the fabric through an unpredictable yet meditative process of change.

In 2007, I moved beyond the loom, wanting to create something totally new for me. I began experimenting with "white-on-white” and found a sense of freedom in that simplicity. It was during this time that I first used matchsticks to scorch the edges of synthetic fabric.
